1. Synopsis

Mammootty and Ranjith joins hands after critically acclaimed Paleri Manikyam. Shoot of their new movie Pranchiyettan and the saint started on July 1st in Thrissur and is ready for Sep10 release. Part of the movie was shot in Goa. In Pranchiyettan and the Saint, Mammootty plays a rice merchant Francis (Pranchiyettan) hailing from Trichur. National award winning actress Priyamani is Mammootty's heroine in this satire.

Pranchiyettan and the saint will be a satire talking about a rich but uneducated man who craves for recognition in a hilarious way. Director Renjith says there are Pranchi's every where, who has earned lots of money, but commands no respect from society. Pranchiyettan and the saint will have a Thrissur flavour to it.

Pranchiyettan is a familiar face to every one in Thrissur. He helps people in solving their problems. Turning point happens when he meets a 15-year-old boy named Poly. Pranchiyettan's interactions with Poly changes his perception of life,” says Ranjith. Ganapathy, the young actor who shot into fame with his role in Sathyan Anthikkad's ‘Vinodayathra,' plays Poly.

Suspense element

Saint character is still a suspense. No clarity on that yet. It is believed Australian actor Jesse Fox Allen has done that role. There is a rumour that Mammootty character gets transformed in the climax. There is a St Francis angle to that character it seems.
